From September 28 to September 30, the Competence Center for Hydrogen Energy of KMG Engineering representatives Saule Zholdayakova (Acting Head of Competence Center), Daulet Zhakupov (Senior Engineer) and Yerdaulet Abuov (Hydrogen Technology Research Laboratory Researcher) attended several events in Almaty.
KIOGE 2022 – KAZAKHSTAN INTERNATIONAL OIL & GAS EXHIBITION & CONFERENCE
The KIOGE conference addressed the Oil & Gas Industry Development prospects in a low-carbon economy. There were shown examples of ESG practices implementation in KazMunayGas NC JSC and Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC. The Ministry of Energy and the KazEnergy Association reported on the status of the carbon neutrality doctrine’s preparation, and it became clear that hydrogen will be an important tool for the decarbonization of Kazakhstan’s heavy industry, transportation, and energy sectors. Saule Zholdayakova, Acting Head of the Competence Center, also gave a presentation on “Opportunities for Hydrogen Energy Introduction in Kazakhstan.”
VII World Petroleum Council Youth Forum – ENERGY TRANSITION: DIALOGUE OF GENERATIONS
The main topics of the VII WPC Youth Forum were the Energy Transition, the role of natural gas in decarbonization, digitalization, and global energy security. In a session devoted to hydrogen energy, a Center representative gave a presentation on “The Role of R&D in Hydrogen Energy Development,” alongside experts from the Ministry of Energy of Oman, UNECE Switzerland, and an ENI representative. The Forum is hosted in different cities around the world. Previously the forum has been held in Beijing, Paris, New Delhi, Calgary, Rio de Janeiro, and St. Petersburg. This year the event was held in Almaty, at the Kazakh-British Technical University.
Energetika 21 – Decarbonization and the Role of Hydrogen in Kazakhstan
The seminar, organized by the Kazakh-German University, addressed the problems of decarbonization of Kazakhstan in the context of international experience, as well as the international agenda and access to global markets. The importance of hydrogen as a decarbonization tool in Kazakhstan and as an export commodity to European markets was emphasized. The findings of a UNECE study assessing Central Asian countries’ hydrogen potential were also displayed.
